Seana Gavin is a London based Artist. With surgical precision, she overlays and conjoins distinct images drawn from vintage photographic material to create otherworldly scenes, transforming them into dreamlike environments where the past and future coexist. Alongside her collage work, she is also known for her photographic work, documenting her time involved in the free party rave movement during the 1990s.

 

Gavin has had solo shows at galeriepcp in Paris(2019), Celestine Eleven, London(2014) and 3939 gallery, London (2011). Groups shows have included Mushrooms: The art, design and future of fungi at Somerset House (2020) Sweet Harmony: Rave today at the Saatchi Gallery , London (2019), Portrait of a Generation at The Hole, NYC,(2012). And Mindful at The old Vic Tunnels, London (2011),

 

A profile of her work has been included in recently released The Age of Collage 3, published by Gestalten, 2020. This year she has also published a photography book ‘Spiralled with IDEA books which was selected as work of the week by Art review in July.

 

Her work has been included in publications such as Elephant Magazine, Twin, Wonderland, Dazed & Confused, Sleek ,Vanity Fair France, and online at Purple TV, i-D, The Face, 032c and Anothermag. Gavin’s artwork features in the permanent collection of the Soho House Group on display at their clubs in London, Amsterdam, Miami and Chicago. 

 

Seana Gavin completed a BA (Visual Arts) at Camberwell College of art.
