Paulina Michnowska creates visual allegories, often humorous, rooted in autobiographical anecdotes, historical folklore and the dullness of mundanity. She uses an assortment of collected imagery from books, photographs, newspaper cuttings and ancient sculptural artefacts, which she selects, edits and melds into a language of her own. Drawing inspiration from everyday objects and situations, her work often reveals the dark thoughts that pervade our banal existence. Michnowska employs a wide range of media that includes drawing, painting, ceramics and collage work.
